Old Nick’s Speckled Trout Shoot Out

The 10th annual Nick’s Speck Trout shootout is coming quickly.  This years tounament will be held May 29th-June 6th, 2010.  Entry fee is $30 along with multiple other sub entries and calcuttas.  It’s a great tournament involving everyone from the pros to the novice junior anglers.  For more info contact Trey Nick at 850-830-6161 or Peter Wright Jr. at The Ships Chandler at 850-837-9306.  Come sign up at the store.

Nick’s Redfish Round-Up

The 5th annual Nick’s Redfish Round-Up is coming soon!!!  It will be held Saturday, June 19th, 2010.  Rules are simple, $125 entry per two man team/or boat.  Guaranteed payout of 5k, based on a 40 boat minumum.  No boundry tournament.  It’s one of the best redfish tournaments on the gulf coast.  For more info contact Trey Nick at 850-830-6161 or Peter Wright Jr. at The Ships Chandler in Destin at 850-837-9306 and to sign up.

Craig Scarbrough’s Inshore Trip

Emerald Coast Saltwater Seminar Series Event Pompano

Spring is here and so are the pompano.

This month’s Emerald Coast Saltwater Seminar Series presented by Ships Chandler and Half Hitch Tackle (April 21) will focus on one of the best fighting fish in the Gulf. Pound for pound, pompano are fantastic from the pier, beach or boat. And they grill up pretty well, too.

As usual, we’ll be at Hooters with free food at 6:30 p.m. April 21. The seminar will start at 7. There will be beer specials and great giveaways from our sponsors.

Bobby Weir Redfish Man

Bobby Weir and friends found a big school of reds off Grayton Beach and went to catching.  The fish were big and hungry.  People are catching these big reds while fishing for cobia.

2010 Crab Cruncher Cobia Classic

Capt. Curt Gwin, Eddie Morgan, and Chatham Morgan took 1st place overall with this 67lb cobia caught over the weekend aboard the “Hey Baby” out of Destin.  The weather has been beautiful and the fish are really starting to show up.  Get em’ while you can!!

Jacks and Groupers April 6th

Jimbo Cambell, Jeb Tatum, Mike Hinze and others went bottom fishing on a recent beautifil spring day.  They caught a bunch of nice jacks and a few groupers as well.  Spring fishing is really starting to heat up!

Redfish w/ Captain Eric Holstman 4/3/10

Capt. Eric Holstman and his friend Billy Thigpen from Atlanta got into some big reds Saturday.  The reds are really starting to show up as you can see.  With spring finally here the fishing’s starting to come alive.
